Get Rid of Dry Summer Skin

Summer sun exposure mixed with pool chlorine and dehydration can lead to dry and unhealthy skin.  Even working inside where the air conditioner is running around the clock can create the same dry-air effect on your skin as heated air in the wintertime. So what’s the best way to combat dry summer skin? Here are a few of our favorite tips to replenish your skin and keep it nourished all year ‘round.

Hydrate

Thirsty?  It’s recommended that women drink anywhere from two to three liters of water each day!  Incorporate this habit to rehydrate your skin and restore your body from the inside out.  Pair your next summer drink with a glass of water. Have some water before breakfast when you first wake up in the morning, and again at night right before you go to sleep. If drinking water doesn’t come easily to you, then try adding some fresh fruit for flavor or investing in a cute new water bottle for motivation.

Exfoliate

If your moisture products don’t seem to be having the same effect that they used to, they could be blocked by the unseen layers of built-up sweat and sunscreen. You might need to remove some of those dead skin cells and clear out your pores by exfoliating. Exfoliation improves blood circulation in your skin and should be applied one to two times a week. Reawaken your skin by incorporating an exfoliator and treating yourself to a revitalizing body scrub. (Did you know that we offer three incredible aromatic body scrub treatments? Moisturize

Protect your skin and help keep it hydrated with an effective moisturizer. Helpful hint: you can even boost your moisturizer’s effectiveness by applying it right after shower to seal in hydration from damp skin. Our favorite product for this is the Epicuren After Bath line, which offers instant quenching for thirsty skin. Exotic oils are precisely blended with rich, natural emollients to protect against dry skin. After Bath is the perfect all-over body moisturizer with an exquisitely light feel, and we apply it in all of our massages.
