For a lady, one of your most viewed assets is your hair. You want the hair on your head to be full of luscious locks that brings you compliment after compliment. What you may not want is for the hair on the rest of your body to bring you the same kind of attention. That’s why you should consider Bella Vita’s variety of waxes!

Now, you may be a lady who’s often wondered about the benefits of waxing, but just aren’t sure if it’s something for you. You may think that shaving is safer, more effective, and easier. Let’s dive into some of these questions here and see just how much you really know about waxing.

What are the benefits?

Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair. It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface.

Even fine hair shadows the face, distorting and aging your features. Waxing the brows opens up the eyes, providing a non-surgical facelift! You keep the hair on your head well-maintained, so why not everywhere else?

There are many benefits of waxing but one you’ll notice right away is the quality of your skin. When wax is applied to your skin it instantly begins to dry. So in those few seconds between the wax application and removal, dead skin cells will stick to it and be removed. Your skin will be exfoliated and silky smooth.

How long do the results last?

You may have heard that waxing causes the hair to take longer to grow back – and its true! When you shave the hair is cut from the surface of your skin. When you’re waxed the hair is pulled out from the root. This means that the root has to produce a new follicle, and in some cases a follicle will not be produced at all.

After your first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual’s hair re-growth. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. Heat stimulates hair growth, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer than in the winter. With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase.

Will it irritate my skin?

Waxing removes unwanted hair, making your skin soft and beautiful, but sometimes beauty comes at a price. Bumps and red rash after waxing can appear which can last for hours or as long as 3 days, especially if you have sensitive skin. The bumps are the result of an inflammation of the hair follicles called folliculitis and can cause some discomfort. A product we recommend for helping with irritations is PFB Vanish. PFB Vanish is a unique, roll-on gel formulated to aid in the relief of ingrown hairs and bumps that could result from waxing.

Is it painful?

It depends on your level of sensitivity and how course your hair is. If your hair is course then the root of the hair will be thick. Pulling a thick hair out from its cozy follicle isn’t going to be comfortable. For most, however, it’s not as bad as they imagined.

How long does my hair have to be?

If your hair is no longer or no shorter than a 1/4 of an inch, that will ensure better, longer lasting results.

Will my hair grow back thicker?

You may have heard that waxing makes more hair grow back, or makes it thicker and darker. Here’s the truth: You already have all the hair you will ever have. The color and the texture are determined by your genes. Removing hair with wax cannot change that. The amount of hair that grows back after waxing can be changed, but only for the better! Less hair will grow back, not more!

When you are waxed on a consistent basis it will cause your follicles to “give up.” This means they just don’t bother with producing new hair, and the hair that does grow back will be thinner. Your waxing sessions will become farther and fewer between. And just a reminder that waxing is not recommended when using Retin A, Renova, or any Retinols, as the skin will be too sensitive and should not be waxed. You should never wax when using Accutane.

If you get waxes regularly, or want to try it out for the first time, the month of April is the time to give it a try! For this month only, take advantage of having two areas waxed and getting a third area for FREE. Make your appointment now through the website or call 918-369-8482.
